As we approach the traditional season for music festivals, the question that many music fans are asking is: “Which music festivals are actually happening in 2021?”
Earlier in the year, news broke that Glastonbury would again be cancelled, with plans in place to bring ‘something really special’ for summer 2022. So, with government restrictions due to change and the potential return of larger events in June, which music festivals can you go to?
We’ve put together a list of the biggest music festivals in the UK that stand a chance of taking place this summer. Best practice putting that tent together!
TRNSMT (9th – 11th July) – Tickets on sale.
Organisers for the Glasgow festival have said that they are ‘optimistic’ the festival will go ahead this summer.
What is the TRSNMT 2021 line-up? The Courteeners, Liam Gallagher, Lewis Capaldi, Keane, Snow Patrol, Amy Macdonald and Rita Ora are among the acts due to perform.

Boomtown (11th – 15th August) – Tickets sold out.
News broke back in February that tickets had sold out for Boomtown. Festivalgoers will get a re-sale opportunity in May to grab a ticket if you missed out first time around. You can register for re-sale here.
What is the Boomtown 2021 line-up? Boomtown organisers are yet to announce the full line-up for the 2021 festival. More details are due to be announced just before it starts!
Where is Boomtown? Boomtown Fair takes place at Matterley Estate near Winchester, Hampshire.
The announced acts for Creamfields 2021 / Creamfields
Creamfields (26th – 29th August) – Going ahead.
Creamfields, the UK’s biggest dance music festival is due to take place during the 2021 August Bank Holiday.
What is the Creamfields 2021 line-up? Eric Prydz, Martin Garrix, Tiesto, deadmau5 and Darren Styles are all confirmed for Creamfields 2021.
Where is Creamfields? Creamfields takes place in Daresbury, Cheshire, just between Liverpool and Manchester.
Reading and Leeds (27th – 29th August) – Going ahead.
Organisers have said that the twin-venue festival is being planned for August. The lineup, including headliners Stormzy, Liam Gallagher and Post Malone is being rolled over from 2020.
What is the Reading and Leeds 2021 line-up? Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi, Liam Gallagher, Queens of the Stone Age and more.
Where is Reading and Leeds festival? Reading Festival takes place at Little John’s Farm in Reading city centre. Leeds Festival is situated in Bramham Park, Wetherby.
Which music festivals have been cancelled?
Glastonbury – Postponed until June 2022
Michael and Emily Eavis announced in a statement back in January 2021 that Glastonbury would sadly be cancelled. Glastonbury is planned for a return in summer 2022.
Download – Postponed until 2022
Metal festival Download announced in March 2021 that they would be postponing for a second-straight year. The festival, held in Donnington, East Midlands, will feature headliners Kiss, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro.
